On this date sixty years ago John Graham Mellor, better known as Joe Strummer, entered the world in the capital city of Turkey. He would go on to spend a much too short five decades revolutionizing and influencing the world of music with a litany of contributions and bands the most famous of which being The Clash. His legacy extends far beyond the reaches of his discography including active social works and fundraising events in his name. Today we remember Joe Strummer through various encapsulating mediums with his trademark Fender Telecaster and his incredulous sneer and rasp reverberating off a graffiti splashed brick wall near you.

“This is my Indian summer…I learnt that fame is an illusion & everything about it is just a joke. I’m far more dangerous now, because I don’t care at all.” – Joe Strummer
