It’s like one of those collaborative Converse exclusive tracks that popped up in the summer of 2011, but with less Best Coast and more rock lobster.
Recently B-52s frontwoman Kate Pierson embarked on a collective musical effort with one of the most influential rock guitarists of the last 15 years, Nick Valensi of the Strokes, and one of the most prolific songwriters Top 40 radio has seen in the past decade, the Australian-born Sia.
Though Pierson and Valensi are well-established with their projects’ distinct brands of party-rock, Sia’s contributions to the musical landscape are far less understated, as her most notable works have been recorded by the likes of Beyonce’, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Celine Dion, and the likes.
Sia received a co-writing credit on “Bottoms Up”, the lead single to Pierson’s forthcoming solo LP Guitars & Microphones, and her prowess for crafting the earworm pop tune are on full display, as Pierson’s candy-coated vocal delivery trudges along to the chunking wail of Valensi’s patented fret board manipulations.
Stream Pierson’s “Bottoms Up” below and check out the full album when it drops on February 17th.
