We all feel nostalgic for the past sometime. However, most of us (this penman included) don’t possess the skill enough to turn that longing for yesteryear into artistic beauty. Butch Walker is one of those talented songsmiths and he returned on Tuesday with a new single and ode to The Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde.

Titled “Chrissie Hynde”, Walker’ sultry southern croon carries sentimental poetics and vivid memories of the first time he heard that existence-altering delivery of Hynde crackle through the radio speakers over sparse percussion and skeletal acoustic six string strumming that holds in it both joy and anguish.

Stream the Butch Walker’s “Chrissie Hynde” below of the the release of his forthcoming LP Afraid Of Ghosts, which is scheduled for a February 3rd release via Dangerbird Records (Silversun Pickups, Minus The Bear, Fitz & The Tantrums).

The forthcoming Butch Walker release was produced by genre-mate Ryan Adams, who has tapped the former as an opener on a U.S. tour that rolls through Red Bank and the Count Basie Theatre on November 20th. Pick up your tickets here.
