Ultrasphinx

The beauty of the SIMGE co-sponsored Happy Mondays series at Wonder Bar is the platform it offers out of state bands to play to an always enthused, discerning crowd. With the onus on playing New York and Chicago on prime weekend dates, having a place in-between to route a tour with a prime Monday slot is like finding a diamond in the rough for most bands.

Enter Akron, Ohio’s hard rocking trio Ultrasphinx who made their Asbury Park debut the other night with a raucous, relentless, groove laden set that had heads nodding and ears ringing. Speak Into My Good Eye caught up with the group ahead of their set for a candid, insightful chat on how Ultrasphinx came to be, and the reality of modern touring indie bands.
