Dead Stars

Last Friday, Little Dickman Records and Sugar Mama BK staged their CMJ showcase at The Gutter in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The night featured performances from Dead Stars, The Battery Electric, Sharkmuffin, Dentist, Dinowalrus, NO ICE and Black Flamingos.

General exhaustion from the previous three days and problems with the G train led to me only being able to catch Dead Stars, Sharkmuffin and The Battery Electric, but it was enough to send my ears sweetly ringing back into the crisp autumn city air.

Sharkmuffin, armed with cool Zines for everyone, rocked with a new drummer and theremin player(!) in tow. Be sure to stream their new LP, Chartreuse, if you haven’t by now.

The boys in Battery were up to their shred heavy, soul inspired antics once again. Kudos to Alex Rosen for pushing through in spite of illness. Like Jordan in ’97.

Dead Stars closed out the night with a flurry of deliciously fuzzed out tunes. Be sure to catch them at Asbury Park Yacht Club on November 13th.

Thanks to Little Dickman and Sugar Mama BK for another night of excellent rock ‘n roll, friendship and overall radness.
