And there you have it! With the Coachella 2013 lineup drop comes the first major festival announcement of this year’s calendar. The incredibly interesting headliners this year include The Stone Roses, Blur, Phoenix, & Red Hot Chili Peppers which leaves plenty of room for the other two major US fests to encroach as we move forward.
With that being said, the dual weekend fest presents a stacked undercard with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, the XX, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Sigur Ros, and the Postal Service rounding out the lineup. Grinderman, Nick Cave’s side-project, will pull double duty over Coachella’s two weekends.
To quote EIC Chris Rotolo:
“The anticipated Coachella lineup has arrived…and it’s a work of art: The perfect mix of reunions, burgeoning outfits, obscure gets, and sensible globe trotters.
Friday April 12th and 19th will feature headlining sets by The Stone Roses and Blur with supporting sets by Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, Lou Reed, Passion Pit, Tegan & Sara, Metric, Local Natives, Japandroids, Divine Fits, Alt-J and More.
Saturday April 13th and 20th will feature Phoenix, The xx, The Postal Service, New Order, Grizzly Bear, Descendents, Violent Femmes, Puscifer, Major Lazer, Dropkick Murphys, Kurt Vile, and many more.
Sunday April 14th and 21st is slated to have Red Hot Chili Peppers on the back end prefaced by Vampire Weekend, Wu-Tang Clan, Tame Impala, The Gaslight Anthem, Dinosaur Jr., Cloud Nothings, JEFF The Brotherhood, Smith Westerns, The Oh Sees, and many more.”
