Colin Stetson lured me in when the world’s foremost experimental saxophone auteur graced the gilded stage of the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park for a midday set at the 2011 All Tomorrow’s Parties festival.

Since then I’ve been infatuated with anything Stetson touches, as the Ann Arbour, Michigan native weaves his circular tones and blasts of brass tones with such emotion its difficult for the listener not to be hypnotized by its vast beauty…which is why it’s so exciting to learn Stetson and Arcade Fire multi-instrumentalist Sarah Neufeld are teaming up for a new collaborative LP titled Never Were The Way She Was.

Ahead of this Constellation Records release, which is set for an April 28th unveiling, Stetson and Neufeld have released a lead single named “The Sun Roars Into View”, a seven-plus minute soundscape of sax manipulations and Neufeld’s haunting string arrangements.

Get lost in the selection below and stay tuned for more from Stetson and Neufeld as we near the album’s release date.
