For many who were raised in a deeply religious environment, there comes a crisis of faith. The death of a loved one, a particular cruelty not so easily explained with the concept of a master plan and a benevolent higher power, or maybe just gaining some level of independence for the first time in life. These moments lead to either a lifetime’s worth of doubling down on what was ingrained in you from birth or the beginnings of a movement away; a deprogramming if you will.
These are the themes at play on Boston-based trio community college‘s new album, comco. Speak Into My Good Eye is happy to be hosting the exclusive premiere of its latest single, “people pleaser,” today.
Featuring Horse Jumper of Love’s John Margaris and Dimitri Giannopoulos along with brother Dan Margaris, the band crafts a quiet storm of that serves as a tense bedrock for this sort of plaintive introspection. As John further details, “This track is about being so agreeable that it’s unhealthy and dishonest.”
Stream community college’s “people pleaser” below and look for comco out March 8th via Disposable America. Catch them out on tour with Alexander starting tonight in Philadelphia.
