Ducktails Explore New York City In “Letter Of Intent”

Mike Mehalick February 25, 2013 News No Comments

Although Ducktails serves as the solo, secondary outlet for Real Estate guitarist Matt Mondanile, latest single “Letter of Intent” features Joel Ford of Ford and Lopatin on bass, synth work by Daniel Lopatin of Oneohtrix Point Never and vocals from Jessa Farkas of Future Shuttle and Ian Drennan of Big Troubles. The Flower Lane standout marks an aesthetic step forward in the Ducktails music video lexicon as the beautifully composed, dreamy New York backgrounds blend perfectly with the tone of the song and Farkas’ distant, engaging delivery. That subdued presence may come off as ironic given the possibly purposely rigid backing band, but you try making a music video in a large Central Park expanse with no large speakers for playback.
