When Tim Donnelly, co-founder of On The Beach: A Sandy Releif Concert, first spoke with SIMGE the Toms River native admitted that not only would he, Danny Clinch, and Tony Pallagrosi be inserting My Morning Jacket, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and Tangiers Blues Band into the heart of Asbury Park on January 2nd, he was tight-lipped but able to reveal that the trio would be bringing along some other “friends” that would remain nameless until a later date.
That day was today, as a Facebook statement announced that lauded soloist Steve Earle would be added to the bill, and Pearl Jam front-man, as well as current New York Rangers net-minder Henrik Lundqvist and former Broadway Blueshirts winger Steve Avery, would act as underwriters for the event.
“It’s a true testament of what kind of men Eddie, Henrik and Sean are,” said Donnelly in a press release. “They care about the people who have supported them and all of the people in the region who have been knocked down by Sandy. They have our backs.”
The relief concert, which is being housed within the intimate Paramount Theatre, will raise funds for such local non-profit and charity organizations as Rebuild Recover, Coastal Habitat For Humanity, The Food Bank Of Monmouth & Ocean Counties, Waves For Water, and Food For Thought By The Sea.
“ It’s really great that these guys stepped up to support the show that will give the charities the money they need and the Jersey Shore locals a well deserved night out,” said Clinch.
Tickets for the event, which also features such globe trotting locals at River City Extension and Nicole Atkins, are going fast but can still be purchased at all ticketmaster locations, ticketmaster.com, and the Stone Pony box office.
