Exclusive Premiere: D E C O R U M Crafts Chilly Post-Punk With “21”

There’s a complimentary air of mystery to Brooklyn-based post-punk trio D E C O R U M. Aside from their site and some write ups, you won’t find any sort of social media pages or long bio. In short, D E C O R U M seems more than comfortable letting others and the music do the talking and given the dark, haunting sonic frozen deserts in which two basses, drums and male/female harmonies intertwine, it serves them well.

With a debut EP and split single out within the last year or so, D E C O R U M is wasting no time in continuing to explore new pathlines in their rich aesthetic. The SUMS EP is on its way and Speak Into My Good Eye is happy to host the exclusive premiere of its latest single, “23,” today.

Following the rumbling hum of “Spirit Ghost,” D E C O R U M builds “21” off of a simmering backbeat and continues to weave new moody, ethereal elements like flurries in a winter storm.

The band shares:

“Despite the connotations to age, the song is a reference to the 21st song we’ve written together. We also joked while writing the song that the drum beat has a similar kinetic pattern to the song ’23’ by Blonde Redhead. So it’s our 23…minus two.

The song will be a part of our upcoming EP entitled SUMS. We currently do not have an official release date but it should be in April 2017.”
