A lot has happened for Brooklyn-based rockers Dead Stars since I first met them back at the 4Knots Festival in 2014. The band comprised of Jeff Moore (guitars, vocals), Jaye Moore (drums) and John Watterberg (bass) dropped their second LP, Bright Colors, while continuing to establish themselves as pre-eminent guitar-driven hook-slingers in the county of Kings.
Wasting little time, Dead Stars are back readying their third full-length, the appropriately urgent, Perfect Patterns. Speak Into My Good Eye is happy to host the exclusive premiere of the album’s latest single, “Precious Things,” today.
The track finds Jeff looking inward and taking stock of and challenging aspects of life that become too comortable and ultimately perilous to constant growth if left unchecked.
Riding a mid-tempo calm before a pedal stomp to a fuzzy, waves crashing chorus, “Precious Things” is another beautifully crafted rock cut from Dead Stars with plenty to consider as Jeff shares in his own words:
“‘Precious Things’ is a song about getting rid of your material possessions in favor of more spiritual pursuits. It’s about destroying the things you love so you can find out what’s important. It’s also about isolation and not being a part of any scene but your own.”
Stream Dead Stars’ “Precious Things” below and pre-order your copy of Perfect Patterns, out September 1st, here. Also be sure to RSVP for their record release show on the same day at Sunnyvale with Grim Streaker, Big Bliss and Fraidycat.
