Everyone Is Dirty

Wonderfully warped and bristling with incendiary energy, the Oakland-based art-rockers Everyone Is Dirty recently unleashed their latest release, the “Banana Split,” well, split. Speak Into My Good Eye is now happy to host the exclusive premiere of the video for “Banana Split” today.

On the track and in the video, Everyone Is Dirty showcase their knack for crafting ethereal tension lines leading to a frenzied garage-psych payoff.

Front-person Sivon Lionclub shares:

“‘Banana Split’ happened fast. Tyler started it off with this bass riff. I was coming off of methadone after an allergy to penicillin caused my liver to fail & had me hospitalized. Methadone made me want chocolate chip cookie dough ice-cream with chocolate sauce all the time.

We were in rehearsal & I just started singing lines over Tyler’s riff. My vibe made Chris start doing that evil guitar line. Then Tony started doing this MC5-esque beat. Then I did this crazed electric violin arpeggio lick. We brought it to Donut Time Audio and it was a one take thing. It’s the story of a love affair between an evil politician and a euphoric mental patient.

The video happened a couple weeks ago when we were hanging with our friend artist Matt Robeson at a giant warehouse space behind our rehearsal studio. He projected cool things on the wall & videoed us while we played music & ate ice cream which turned into us taking off our clothes and flinging ice cream at each other.”
