Ghost King

A touch under a year ago, SIMGE had the pleasure of introducing you to the Brooklyn-based rockers Ghost King ahead of the release of their debut album, BONES. Since then, the band gigged pretty regularly through the Summer before shifting gears with a split single relase, “Melting Sky” and “Inside Out.”

Speak Into My Good Eye is now premiering the excellent video for the former track sure to strike an immediate chord with lovers of all things spooky/horror. On “Melting Sky,” the breakneck rhythms never let up as whirring guitars eventually explode with a distorted heavy-psych sound.

As for the video, the band’s Carter McNeil explains:

“‘Melting Sky’ was filmed at my parent’s house in Austin, Texas while I was home for Thanksgiving. The concept was developed by director, Zack Scott and myself over the course of a few months prior to filming.

We wanted to create some sort of mythos for what “Ghost King” is, so we came up with a fictitious demon spirit and had a group of friends resurrect it through me. The song seemed like the perfect soundtrack to a horror movie so we just took that idea and ran with it.”

Watch Ghost King in “Melting Sky” below and catch them at Mercury Lounge on February 3rd and Alphaville on February 8th.
