It’s been about two and a half years since Brooklyn-based band Girl Scout first launched onto the scene following the release of a self-titled debut EP. Led by Jeremy Zerbe, the group crafts endearing slacker-rock with wry lyricism that isn’t above cranking out some good old fashioned guitar ripping tunes.

A lot has changed since that initial EP drop in and around Girl Scout. Lineup changes in and the rise of a piss-flecked rotten potato as President around, chiefly.

That said, Girl Scout has a new EP, +4, on the way and Speak Into My Good Eye is happy to premiere the timely “Get Yr Dick Hard” today.

“‘Get Yr Dick Hard’ was actually the first song I wrote for Girl Scout back in spring of 2013,” shares Zerbe. “It was about those paranoid wingnuts like Alex Jones and Andrew Breitbart who got almost aroused at the idea of secretive government conspiracies. Now, almost four years later, they’re going to be running our country.

It’s sad that the song, which was kind of a joke to me at the time, turned out to be so prescient. That’s why we decided to release the EP on Inauguration Day.

Actually, we’re planning on giving the money we make from downloads on January 20 to the Southern Poverty Law Center, because this new administration surely isn’t going to be looking out for the kinds of people the SPLC works hard to represent.

It probably won’t be much, but we felt like we had to do something, even something small, to try to make a difference where it matters.”

Stream Girl Scout’s “Get Yr Dick Hard” below and pre-order the +4 EP, out tomorrow, here. Girl Scout plays Gold Sounds tomorrow as well with No Nets, Almost Aimless, The Thirds and Swinging Riot. The show will benefit the Ali Forney Center, which helps house homeless LGBTQ youths in New York City.
