Lake Effect

No strangers to SIMGE, NJ indie-rockers Lake Effect recently released their debut LP, American Sarcasm, back in March. The album marks the band’s most lyrically ambitious and conceptual output to date as the nine songs are divided into even thirds dealing with childhood, adolescence, and failure.

Stand out track “Phantom”, off of the childhood portion of the album, is a dreamy, languid piece that immediately evokes back porch wistful nostalgia. Speak Into My Good Eye has the exclusive premiere of its companion music video below.

In “Phantom”, our male protagonist is confronted by the rigors of accepting adulthood with no turning back. He drives to work and is shouted at by his boss without ever opening his eyes. That all changes when a woman comes through his door. The video also plays with feeling suffocated by these changes as the protagonist is often thrown to the bottom of different bodies of water.

Check out Lake Effect’s “Phantom” below and catch them at the Sound of Spring Fest in New Brunswick on May 29th.
