Back in May last year we reviewed the debut self-titled LP from rising Chicago/Houston duo Mechanical Joints. Now, high school friends Shawn and Sam are gearing up to drop the follow up in quick succession entitled, Synthetic Texture.
Mechanical Joints continue their visceral, distortion-razed sonic explorations with demure, 80’s new wave vocal delivery not unlike a computer gaining sentience leading to immediate depression. Speak Into My Good Eye has the exclusive premiere of Synthetic Texture stand out, “Wasted,” below.
The band shares that the new effort, “is simultaneously organic and cybernated, aiming to balance and integrate a precise digital atmosphere with imperfect/incorrect human thought/emotion. We really dig digital sounds and distortion. Some songs sound like machines fighting or, conversely, engaging in sweet, passionate, screeching lust inside of an 80s computer. Some are like chainsaws ripping through sheet metal.”
