Longtime SIMGE readers know we hold a special place in our hearts for the now defunct The Everymen. As life moves on and new realities begin to set in so too do different artistic inspirations.
The Everymen singer/guitarist Michael VM has certainly experienced his fair share of relatively recent life developments in getting married, moving from his beloved New Jersey down to North Carolina and now a child on the way. In that time, Michael has become a scribe in his own right, foreshadowing themes that would potentially come up in any future musical endeavors.
And wouldn’t you know it, Speak Into My Good Eye is happy to share that Michael VM will release his debut solo offering, the happiest man on earth, with single “Before The Sun” premiering below. The sweeping acoustic-led track finds Michael exploring the impossibly difficult emotions involved with an impending and inevitable loss. A brilliant guitar solo, swelling, mournful strings and Michael’s powerful vocals make “Before The Sun” a stirring first entry into this album’s world.
“This song came from the feeling of the helplessness I felt as my father and my sister, doctors both, worked with my mother’s oncologists to help her survive just a little bit longer,” shares Michael. “I was resigned to a bystander as they sprung to action employing their expertise to help save someone’s life. I was only good at writing songs, thus useless in my mother’s time of need.”
Stream Michael VM’s “Before The Sun” and look for the happiest man on earth out November 10th (pre-order).
