Early in 2015 we first featured Psychiatric Metaphors, the heavy-psych recording project of Brooklyn-based artist Sam Taylor. Now, the band is prepping the release of a new self-titled EP via Little Dickman Records on August 26th.
Our good friend CoolDad Music shared the EP’s ripping first single, “The Parasite,” and now Speak Into My Good Eye is happy to premiere the latest cut, “Black Mass.”
On “Black Mass,” Psychiatric Metaphors works up a dark, otherworldly atmosphere. Lurching forward like a mythical beast awoken from a seemingly endless slumber, the fuzzy guitars and undulating rhtyhms drive forward as Taylor calls out from the void.
“Born of deep space, dark matter seeped from the infinite depths of the void, and summoned mystic creatures of fuzz, culminating in the heavy psychedelic experience known as ‘Black Mass,'” shares Taylor.
To celebrate the EP, Psychiatric Metaphors will head out on tour with Mike Bongi (guitar, vocals), Pat Brenner (bass, vocals) and Mike Nugent (drums) in tow. Stream “Black Mass” below and catch Psychiatric Metaphors in a city near you including this Thursday, August 4th at The Saint with Boogarins and Ribeye Brothers.
The Psychiatric Metaphors EP is currently available for pre-order as a limited edition green vinyl 7″ here.
