And I thought Ramonda Hammer was a nod to Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim. The LA-based alt-rock quartet actually draws their moniker from a lady who was featured on the reality TV show Cheaters, and that’s just about where as far as any preconcieved notions of can go. Ramonda Hammer smacks of bratty pop-punk to me, but the actual stylings of the group speak much further volumes to me. What’s in a name?
Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in October 2015, Ramonda Hammer recorded their first professional, fully realized vision at Sunset Sound with Grammy-nominated sound engineer Morgan Stratton. The result? The EP, Whatever That Means, out April 29th via self-release.
Speak Into My Good Eye is happy to host the exclusive premiere of Ramonda Hammer’s latest single, “Chaotic,” today.
On “Chaotic,” front-woman and band founder Devin Davis, along with Andy Hengl, Justin Geter, and Danny Louangxay, ride some truly cosmic rock radio ready structures. Davis works above the fray outlining the complexities of a failed or failing relationship with the Liz Phair comparisons ringing aptly.
