The vast, lonely distances, real and emotional, from one point to another in America has always been a rich mine to well for musicians looking to tell their own lovelorn or hopelessly aspirational truth. Each stretch has its own color palette in evoking nostalgia, with the Pacific Northwest giving us plenty of universally relatable music over the years in that vein.
Enter Seattle-based rockers Scarves who recently dropped the Mall Goths LP, “an album comprised of ten vignettes depicting characters along the I-5 corridor between Bellingham, Washington and Portland, Oregon.” Comprised of Nikolas Stathakopoulos (Guitar, Vocals), Cael Watts (Drums) and Hector Manuel Rodriguez III (Bass), the band presents a sprawling concept work soundtracked by a diverse range of engaging rock styles.
Today, Speak Into My Good Eye is happy to host the exclusive premiere of the video for single, “Off Script.” On the track, Scarves scream out of the gate with an angular passage sparked by searing guitar work as Stathakopoulos and co. build towards an anthemic chorus. The band swirls a sonic storm as Luchadors tangle in the ring in front of them.
“‘Off Script” is our second video with director Benjamin Owens,” shares Stathakopoulos. “The clip showcases the dynamic energy shared between two forms of performance: live music and Luchador wrestling.”
