Jersey Shore Music Festival will also include a slew of local headliners including River City Extension, The Front Bottoms, the Lollapalooza-bound Brick+Mortar, as well as the recently added electronically charged Rock group from Ithaca, NY Jimkata, and more.

Stepdad is a group from Grand Rapids, Michigan, that has been winning fans over with their electrifying 8-bit, synthpop compositions found on a debut LP titled Wildlife Pop which dropped in June 2012 on the back of a successful of their Kickstarter, a nod to the outfit’s devoted fanbase.

Stepdad’s latest music video for  ”Pick & Choose” is an animated venture by the Swedish duo Hannes and Johannes, a unique introduction to the band’s fun loving personality.  Set to a summery song that sounds like an ice cream truck in technicolor, the five members set out on an expedition in a forest full of disfigured animals and post-apocalyptic debris. They carry with them a box that seeps a mysterious purple ooze, and, when opened, releases a hand with an eye that warps the viewer through psychedelic animations. It’s a mystery where they are taking this seemingly important box, but not as important as the journey itself. Along the way, the hints of creepy animation and character designs that look like graffiti art jump off the page, bewitching the viewer while fulfilling their aural desires with an amalgamation of Passion-Pit-esque synth driven concoctions, and Anamangucci derived 8-bit allure.

Early this morning the Australian psych-rock collective POND released the new single “Xanman” off their upcoming LP Hobo Rocket. The album is the group’s fifth studio production and is due out August 6th here in the States.

POND boasts a diverse roster of pop auteurs and indie gurus that stays fresh and in flux. Their latest single “Xanman” is a roaring psychedelic romp of a tune. The guitars blare in unbridled lo-fi glory, maxing out the amps from beginning to end and descending upon the listener  in a tumbling wall of noise.

The video POND created to accompany “Xanman” brings the psychedelic experience to new heights. The clip plays like something David Lynch would have created had he been on the famous Further bus and manned the cameras instead of Leary. It’s a wild ride, and well worth a watch.

With the recent news of Maxwell’s closing its doors next month after 35 years, many area outfits have scrambled to play the storied Hoboken venue one last time, and New Brunswick’s own Screaming Females has announced its final performance, a Sunday matinee slated for July 21st at 3 p.m.  Tickets for the event are currently on sale for $10 and can be purchased here.

The early set will preface a special evening of music featuring Garden State Punk-Rock luminary Ted Leo and his backing band The Pharmacists with Screaming Females’ Don Giovanni Records label mate Shellshag in support, however, that show is sold out.

In other Screaming Females/Don Giovanni Records news, Screamales frontwoman Marissa Paternoster has been named as the producer of a forthcoming Modern Hut long form release titled Generic Treasure.  Modern Hut is the New Brunswick-based music project of Don Giovanni Records’ co-founder Joe Steinhardt and that LP will be released via his label on August 7th.

Arctic Monkeys debuted a new cut on its most recent tour of the United States titled “Do I Wanna Know?” and now the sleek piece of songwriting has surfaced as the outfit’s latest single, and as this penman sat at his keyboard studying the announcement he hoped and prayed to whatever musical deity that may or may not exist in the cosmos above that this Sheffield, England collective would revert back to its danceable tales of the London underground from yesteryear…but he was denied once again.

“Do I Wanna Know?”, despite the steam heat it produces under the sheets, is not a reversion to the teenage antics and single evening stands placed over sloppy Post-Punk instrumentals that allowed Arctic Monkeys to grow and audience and climb the charts, but a more mature account that depicts frontman Alex Turner in search of love, and confused about this delicate creature of the night and if she feels the same.

On Tuesday morning Asbury Park’s storied Stone Pony announced that its satellite Ocean Avenue venue, The Wonder Bar, will have it’s equally hallowed planks graced by the Hartfordshire, England 20-year old Synth-Pop luminary Charli XCX, whose recent rise to Indie-Rock relevancy was spurred by a trio of 2012 mixtapes, including one full of original works titled Heartbreaks & Earthquakes, and support roles on tours with Coldplay and Santigold, and a recent slot at this past weekend’s 2013 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival.

Charli XCX’s debut studio release, True Romance, dropped in April and peaked at No. 5 on the U.S. Heat Seeker Chart at No. 85 on the United Kingdom’s Top Album’s Chart.

Los Angeles based Indie-Rock duo Raw Fabrics recently dropped a video to accompany their new single “Get Happy”. The song is taken from a forthcoming debut EP, Blitz The Queen, which will be available on August 20th.

Made up of Fish and Jack B. Franco, Raw Fabrics employ melancholy vocals, rock steady rhythms and an electro varnish. Their latest number “Get Happy” is a winding pop tune that explores the apathy and delirium of being a 20-something kid in a world that could care less. The vocals maintain a haunting lilt, driving the melody while worming their way into the listeners head.

The video itself is an awesome piece of work. A larger than life smile is plastered over a table and centered for our viewing pleasure. Over top runs an endless consumption cycle of coffee, cigarettes and alcohol, along with the lyrics spread out on slips of paper. It’s a gleefully neurotic clip that deserves to be watched and watched again. Check it out!

New York’s eclectic Indie-Rock outfit The Lost Patrol recently released a video for “See You In Hell”, a down and dirty Sub-Pop single off their latest LP Driven. The record is the group’s fourth studio production, and a comprehensive showcase of their diverse offerings.

“See You In Hell” rumbles along like a sleek retro Cadillac, suspension low and tail fins high. It’s Rock N’ Roll for back alleys and barflys, topped off by the sultry vocals of leading lady Mollie Israel. The tune’s got a heavy pulse and a western twang tailor made for a Tarantino flick.

The video itself is a hilariously brilliant chunk of B-movie mimicry. Israel puts on the airs of a dangerous femme fatale and rolls with a greasy crew, played with tight lips and dark shades by guitarists Stephen Masucci and Michael Williams. As an audience, we’re often left in awe at what emerges from the mind and laboratory of an EDM artist.  Jack Deezl, the founder of Philadelphia electronic dance music collective Glitch Squad, has provided SIMGE with such a brand of cage rattling beats this past year, however, nothing ever quite compares to the live experience…and now you can experience that too.

The fifth edition of Maine’s music, film, arts and camping extravaganza, KahBang Festival, is slated to take place in downtown Bangor from August 8th to the 11th and recently unveiled its initial lineup drop which included a slew a familiar monickers.

As well as such lauded headliners as Oberhofer, Dr. Dog, and home state dynamos Lady Lamb The Bee Keeper, KahBang Festival is scheduled to include The Weeks, The Knocks, Lights, Paper Diamond, Lucius, and RDGLDGRN.’

KahBang Festival will also see performances by SIMGE favorites as Hopsin, Break Science, Sun Club, The Ugly Club, and Junior Astronomers, as well as Jersey Shore Music Festival co-headliner AER, and many more.
