The Garden State’s new favorite sons of grandiose Rock N’ Roll, The Gaslight Anthem, have finally unveiled the cover art, moniker, and release date for their forthcoming release and follow up to their most commercially successful collection Handwritten (2012).
Get Hurt, which frontman Brian Fallon named Pearl Jam’s No Code as a primary influence in a recent RollingStone interview, was recorded in early April of this year at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, and is slated for an August 19th release on Island Records.
“It’s completely different than anything we had ever done before,” said Fallon to RollingStone of Get Hurt. “Instead of going that extra step of just adding some organ or some background vocals, this time we actually really changed up a lot of the sounds.”
Fallon would later refer to Get Hurt as The Gaslight Anthem’s “weird album,” for whatever that’s worth. Regardless, the new release has, as expected, brought fans a new tour, and the most important date to our Central Jersey hub is September 13th, when the band headlines PNC Bank Arts Center with Against Me! and Jimmy Eat World…true story, and you can purchase tickets on Friday, June 20th at 10 a.m. right here.
