Loyal SIMGE followers are likely familiar with the works of Chris Sherman and Leah Cinnamon whether it from their previous outfit, Sky Picnic, or their current, Hanford Reach. Recently, the latter returned with a new single, “Winston Smith,” a timely psych-rock cut that slices a tie-dyed color beam of hope through the darkness of the world’s current state of affairs.
“The song is called ‘Winston Smith,’ based on the protagonist from 1984. The world really feels like an Orwellian dystopia, where it doesn’t matter what the rational think; big brother is going to win out and shut us down. I hope that bleakness has been captured here and inspires some hope for change.”
