Cueing up Dollys latest release Oh, Please for the third time, I wanted to take a moment and share some quick thoughts on this trio’s first full length offering.
There is a pure and energetic innocence within this nine song album. Drifting melodies along with a very dreamy and ethereal quality. Indie pop with undertones of the 1960’s. Makes me want to stroll through a field of flowers, the sun shining upon my head in springtime. Smiling, carefree and endlessly happy.
This is a sound that is very refreshing to me and its energy will take you from London to the shores of California while you are listening. Put on your headphones to catch all the little nuances of the analog recording, or turn it up loud, open the windows and appreciate the freshness that Dollys have given us.
They have built up a good collection of material during the writing and recording of Oh, Please so I think we may be hearing many other offerings from them in the future. The more cd’s we buy the quicker that will happen!
I have become a huge fan of Dollys live shows, they are really quite mesmerizing, and you can join them at the Court Tavern this Friday for their official release party along with Deal Casino, The Vaughns, Romp and Rocky Cantenese and the Chapter. 8pm, 21+.
