Filling a basic need of curiosity, I ventured out to GameChanger World in Howell to catch some tunes. While the surroundings and set up were not conducive to my photographic style, the place was teaming with spectators, who as the evening progressed became more and more enthusiastic. And more and more aggressive. I relish the energy of these events, but I wish they had a barrier to allow some elbow room for us photojournalist types. It was a near sell-out crowd with at least 600 people in attendance.
Four bands on the main stage for the show all in the genre of Alternative, pop-punk. Headlined by the Chicago based Knuckle Puck with support acts including Head North, Sorority Noise and Seaway the place was a non-stop mash fest. I was able to get decent position for Buffalo’s, Head North and personal safety had me head side stage for Hartford’s, Sorority Noise, Ontario’s, Seaway and Knuckle Puck until we got booted during their set. All good though, the energy was amazing all evening as the bands through the crowd into a frenzy.
With the mosh pit in full effect, crowd surfers were abundant, stage diving was rampant, and the bouncers on the stage seemed to multiply for each consecutive set, that by the time Knuckle Puck hit the stage it was one crowded mess of flailing arms and legs with the bouncers catching the spectators as they came over the top. Crazy stuff.
Amazing support for all these acts from the crowd. Be sure and check out Copacetic, the latest release from Knuckle Puck on You Tube or iTunes.
