For the latter part of 2014 through the first half of 2015, Pepperwine was on the intimate search for a drummer that molded into their crew. They went through a few good ones before ultimately locking in on the rhythm master that best fit the fold. After a gelling through a bunch of live shows they hit up Retromedia Studios in Red Bank and constructed a five song EP that hit the streets in May.
Future Habits kicks off with a swirling rift of keyboards before breaking into a light San Fran vibe. The opening track, “Riff Raff,” is the beginning of an EP that is a chug along groove fest full of fuzz guitars, punchy accents and crisp transitions. The vocals of Kellie Shane are soulful and effortless, able to switch from being raspy to sounds of purity within the same bar of music.
That new drummer thing? Mike Campanile is a driving pocket master that has given Pepperwine that much desired fourth member they were hunting for.
