A special rendition of Happy Mondays went down this week as they teamed up with the Light of Day Foundation and accepted contributions towards Parkinson’s Research.
Stepping back a bit from the rock n roll sounds, the acts for the night brought in some newer faces to the Wonder Bar to show their support.
While his band mates left him to fend off the masses by himself, the night opened with a quick acoustic set by Those Mockingbirds front man, Adam Bird.
Thomas Wesley Stern was next and I do believe this was the highlight of my night. I have a large family base in Tennessee so I felt right at home with these Pine Barren residents as they performed their own brand of music, self-described as an American Roots sound. I think that is a fancy way of saying Jersey style, Americana Country/Folk/Bluegrass, but either way, you could not help but tap your feet, clap your hands and sing along with this six piece group.
The Villanelles closed out the show with a very Jersey sounding, straight ahead set of rock-n-roll.
Happy Mondays for January 19th presents another strong lineup and will feature Des and the Swagmatics, Morningside Lane and We are Ghosts Now. There is no cover charge and it is always a great time.
