Comprised of Hayley Livingston (guitar/vocals), Marisa Gershenhorn (guitar/vocals), Vicki Guillem (drums), and Abby Austin (bass), NYC-based group Human People extrapolate their impossible to quantify surroundings and the inherent loneliness that comes with being surrounded by eight million people with no one to talk to.
Their excellent debut LP, Butterflies Drink Turtle Tears out last year, was written by Livingston and Gershenhorn while they were apart from each other, ironically landing on the same themes of isolation. The spark and spirit, however, is Human People wrangling with these feelings and finding the beauty in being, well, human people.
Recently, the band debuted a new video for single “Jenny” which was directed by who Gershenhorn shares that the video, “is inspired by sci-fi stories like Videodrome and Neon Genesis Evangelion that deal with identity. It’s about the ways we curate an understandable version of ourselves to present to the world.”
