Last night, indie-rockers Islands and eclectic psych-pop outfit TEEN entranced a shoulder to shoulder crowd at Baby’s All Right. The glimmering, malleable backdrop of the venue served to compliment both bands’ engaging live performances as they were bathed in dramatic blue hues.
The three sisters of TEEN (lead singer Teeny Lieberson, keyboardist Lizzie Lieberson and drummer Katherine Lieberson) along with bassist Boshra AlSaadi brought their powerful three part harmonies along with building, intricate instrumental swells. A cross between St. Vincent and Warpaint with their own unique incorporations of R & B.
Islands closed the night strong as Nicholas Thorburn moved from the Barclays Center stage opening for Arcade Fire with The Unicorns, to the intimate confines of Brooklyn’s best rock club. The front man was hard to pin down at one moment center stage with a guitar, hiding behind an amp, or singing in the crowd.
Prime visual evidence of Islands and TEEN rocking Baby’s All Right can be viewed below. Big ups to Michael Cera for letting me slightly block his view to capture them. Nice guy.
