For years the Brooklyn, NY rock auteur that is Laura Stevenson had a vocal delivery too pure, pristine, and thunderous to comfortably fit within the grimy underbelly of punk rock’s DIY underground. So she ditched the ripped and torn guitar chords and blaring brass accompaniment for a more reserved folk presentation, but the attitude just didn’t match up.

Stevenson recently re-emerged with a taste of what’s to come on Oct. 30th when Don Giovanni Records releases her forthcoming LP Cocksure, and if her latest selection is an indication of what rests ahead, it appears this multi-faceted songstress has successfully married all aspects of her past works into something fierce yet accessible, and owning both grace and jagged edge.

Stream “Claustrophobe” below and be sure to catch Stevenson on her forthcoming tour, which opens on Oct. 14th at Rock & Roll Hotel in Washington, DC, before hitting The Foundry @ The Fillmore in Philadelphia on Nov. 18th, and warps up on Nov. 21st in The Marlin Room at Webster Hall in New York City.
