Amy Klein has one foot firmly planted in flowery poetry and the other sunken hard into the mud of indie melody. Having fallen in love with prose and poetry writing at the age of five, Klein has built herself in a song structure expert, wrapping her songs in the creative mind that only a poet possesses.
“American City” takes all of these aspects and shifts them into something that is both reflective and elusive. Klein’s vocal work is teaming with euphoria in this track. The verses climb beautifully into the chorus, and the song overall is reminiscent of female artists of the mid to late 90s.
Klein previously represented Titus Andronicus, Leda and Hilly Eye, just a few bands that have made an impact. She’s releasing her debut solo album, Fire, on June 10th via Don Giovanni Records. Make sure you check out “American City” below.
