On February 5, 1975 Bruce Springsteen &The E Street Band played one of its greatest shows…and you probably never heard about it.

In my case, I wouldn’t be born for another 19 years and a day (Unlike Tom Cruise I was born on the 4th of February), but in your case, you might have been prepping for Springsteen and the gang’s two-night run at Widener University.

However, the Boss and his boys from E Street prefaced that pair of headlining sets with a WMMR-presented benefit gig to raise funds for The Main Point (the beloved Philadelphia venue that hosted the event).

Seven months before Born To Run would drop, Springsteen and the band delivered several album essentials including “Wings For Wheels”, which would eventually be reworked and tightened to become “Thunder Road”, and ultimately included lyrics that would spawn “Darkness On The Edge Of Town”.
