A couple of weeks back, the “Demos for a Difference” project was launched, and has since (and will continue to) donate 100% of its proceeds to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. Asbury Park musician Brian Erickson organized this effort as a way to “take what [artists] have and use our collective power to put it to use in the fight for true equality in the United States and around the world”.

Since 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has been advocating for “a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race”. The Black Lives Matter movement has raised awareness for organizations such as the NAACP, which have been standing for issues such as education, health, economic opportunity, media diversity and criminal justice for over a century.

Inspired by the nationwide protests, “Demos for a Difference” is a 191 track compilation from artists across the globe which is available exclusively on bandcamp. The “album” contains a myriad of genres, including hip hop, R&B, folk, rock, spoken word poetry, and stand up comedy.

You can purchase and listen to all 191 tracks on Demos for a Difference by Demos for a Difference
