My introduction to the relatively newly minted NYC-based group Evening Darling has been gradual but can be primarily linked to our good friend Brett Saxon. Formerly known as The Hunting Party, Evening Darling blends the warmth of classic Americana with a punchy rock sound that will have you swaying away to their infectious stylings.
Featuring Erica Lane (lead vocals), Nick Lerangis (guitars, vox), Dan Burke (drums) and Dave Letchinger (keyboard), Ryan “Rusty” Loftus (guitars) and Saxon (bass), the band is now prepping to release their debut, self-titled album. The record’s latest single, “Live Where You Lay,” offers that exact advice to someone running away from their problems rather than facing them head on. Lane’s powerful vocals hammer home that message clearly as the rest of the band locks in on some pretty tight grooves.
“A change of scenery doesn’t fix your problems. I think a lot of people, myself included, have times when they say ‘If I can have that thing, or go to that place, or be with that person, then everything will change and I’ll be happy.’ In my experience, that’s never worked, but I keep cutting my hair anyway.”
