Listen: Lärmheim Pushes Experimental Electronic Boundaries With “Video Game Soundtrack”

Boundaries, in music, were made to be broken through. More and more we’re beginning to see musicians adopt personas that allow them to stretch their varied talents as far as they can imagine.

In the case of Geneva, Switzerland-born artist Lärmheim, gaining a mastery over the studio setting comes with an eye and ear attuned to programming, generative composition, live-electronics and classical contemporary music. One could argue that music is at its most interesting when virtuosic abilities are used as a basis to burst into new frontiers, and Lärmheim certainly embodies that spirit as evidenced by his last release, Cent Soleils.

For a primer into Lärmheim’s world, single “Video Game Soundtrack” works well with plenty of inventive, glitchy twists and turns. The landscape the artist crafts on the stand out track is icy, alien, aggressive and, ultimately, thrilling. “Video Game Soundtrack” scores the point of no going back with swells of sonic blasts that relentlessly rise up just when you think you’ve defeated the final boss.

Stream Lärmheim’s “Video Game Soundtrack,” and, if you should dig it, head here to get your copy of Cent Soleils.
