Last year, the Asbury Park-based Levy & The Oaks first hit our radar, with our own Phil Shepherd catching them live twice since. The band delivered on their initial promise with their debut, self-titled LP back in October, chock full of natural, Americana-style harmonies and melodies with a keen sense of pop structures and lyricism.
Now, Levy & The Oaks are set to pull back the curtain a bit with a forthcoming acoustic EP. The band recently dropped a reworking of their single “Out Of The Blue” which trades the LP version’s grandiosity for an intimate reflection.
The band shares:
“‘Out of the Blue” is about growing up. It’s about hitting rock bottom. It’s about acceptance. You see, some of us think we’re untouchable. We’re not. When you’re not only hurting yourself but hurting those who love you the most, it’s time to step back and re-evaluate. It’s time to look into the mirror.”
Stream Levy & The Oaks’ “Out Of The Blue” and look for the EP of the same name out May 19th with pre-orders ongoing here.
