If you like your folk music with a little bit more clang and a smidge more clamor than the average ho-hey-er, then we have a treat for you. On September 22, Lina Tullgren is coming down from Southern Maine with a debut album full of off-center folk tunes. If “Asktell” is any indication, it’s going to be beautiful and noisy as hell.
The first track from Tullgren’s debut album Won deals with her view that people aren’t ever actually curious about your life when they ask you what you’re up to.
“Do people actually want to know how you’re doing when they ask?” she told The Fader when asked about the song. “Don’t they just want to judge you?”
As for the resulting song, we’ve weighed it in the balance and found it anything but wanting. Give “Asktell” a listen below and catch Tullgren on tour starting next month.
