Like many things in life, sometimes two is better than one. Such is the case when it comes to the blending of the arts and sciences by Boston based artist MPTHY.

A Scientist by day, MPTHY brings his experimental proclivities out of the lab and into the studio as showcased on his new LP, The Golden Boy. The New Wave inspired effort is a DIY affair as MPTHY works in a number of influences including Sigur Ros, The Cure, and R.E.M. towards a slightly poppier sound.

Although beleaguered by a series of setbacks due to a number of issues, The Golden Boy comes across as a triumph not only in story but sonically with a semblance of catharsis evident on each track.

The title track, featured below, finds the artist wrestling with visions of failure that haunt his dreams backed by ethereal keys, a killer chorus and pop driven beats. Stream it and look for more from MPTHY here.
