Listen: Sunflower Bean Return With The Dreamy “Easier Said”

Sunflower Bean

One of the more anticipated releases of Q1 2016, as we’ve detailed numerous times, Sunflower Bean’s proper debut, Human Ceremony, is out February 5th via Fat Possum.

We all have a pretty good idea of the sonic stew from which the Sunflower sound hath spawned; a heavy dose of Sabbath with a sprinkle of Smith (Robert). More often than not, upon initial introduction, people walk away from their first Beaning speaking more towards the former influence, but the latter is ever present as well especially in the band’s more delicate moments.

Just such a case study occurred on New Year’s Eve when my roommate, formerly unfamiliar with Sunflower Bean, saw them open for DIIV at Bowery Ballroom. His takeaway, or at the least the one that stuck with me, was something to the effect of, “they should have the girl sing more.”

Well, John, here you go. Sunflower Bean now share “Easier Said,” a dreamy take on learning as you get you older, with a much cleaner Guitar sound than the crunchy fuzz the band normally swims in. It’s a gorgeous track, and, in my opinion, further ramps up anticipation for the LP with the range in single choices teasing a diverse, dynamic full length listen.
