As all good EP’s should do, Violence the latest release by Brooklyn grunge meets shoegaze purveyors Vaureen, establishes a sonic central point and runs in all different directions while keeping everything precise. Comprised of Andrea Horne, Marianne Do and Cale Hand, Vaureen whips up some excellent sludgy, ethereal funeral pyre atmospheres with EP closer “Before the Rectangles Take Over” working as the most entrancing.
On the track, Horne and Do harmonize to a haunting effect as the trio build waves of fuzz and reverb until the dam finally breaks and you’re consumed by the flood. I’ll definitely be looking to get them on one of our showcases soon.
