The local NJ music scene does a lot of things well, but is admittedly a little lacking when it comes to more pensive, ambient side of things. Enter the dark baritone and minimalist pangs of Nolan Mendoza who is ramping back up with a stream of singles after time spent re-grouping. His latest offering, “Summer Child”, offers a window into how he’s shifted his interesting narrative into his creative outlet.
“Summer Child is a song I wrote after my papa passed, and at the same time someone special came into my life,” says Mendoza. “It was a crazy, emotionally hightened time this summer.”
I highly recommend you play “Summer Child” below and let’s get Nolan Mendoza on a showcase sometime very soon. Watch your back Matt Berninger.
