After seeing Coin at Firefly Music Festival in 2016, I was determined to see them once again as they made another appearance on the East Coast. On September 28, 2017 the band performed at the House of Independents in Asbury Park, New Jersey. A pop indie duo named Joan and a band named Des opened up for Coin that night. It was definitely a great lineup!

Coin is a 4 piece indie pop band from Nashville, Tennessee. Members include Chase Lawrence (lead vocals, synths), Ryan Winnen (drums), Joe Memmel (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Zachary Dyke (bass guitar). The band formed in 2012 and has been touring all over the world ever since. In 2015, their song “Run” became popular on many radio stations and got many positive reviews by fans. This song with catchy lyrics “Something tells me that you’re never gonna stop to do what you want” is about chasing dreams even if they seem naive. Coin just released their second album, “ How Will You Know if You Never Try,” which was released in April 2017. For a band that has only been around for five years they are gaining popularity fast!

While seeing them last year, I was amazed by their electric sound and energy coming from the stage. It was a fun show to watch, especially knowing that everyone in the crowd was having a good time. I was so touched by their music that I even bought their self titled album “Coin”. This 10 track album was so worth every penny. Afterwards, I waited in line for the Meet and Greet. These guys made time to talk to their fans and even signed my CD. I was able to take a group photo with the band too. It was definitely a band that I would see again.

The first time I saw Coin headline was at the House of Independents and I was very impressed with their stage presence. They were energetic and interactive with the audience. Lead singer, Chase Lawrence, made his way into the crowd and sang to the fans. Singer flipped his head and hair to the beat while playing on the keyboard. He also encourages fans to sing along to music and reaches out to touch hands in the crowd. Their songs make you want to dance and sing at every show, leaving fans entertained and engaged.

Coin ended the show with a popular song,” Talk too Much” which is found on their new album. This was definitely a fan favorite because the crowd was singing along. If you have never seen this band before then you should put them on your bucket list. You will definitely be amazed with their talent! They have performed with bands such as the 1975 and Bad Suns . This band is currently on tour and will be performing in their hometown on November 2nd at the Cannery Ballroom in Nashville, Tennessee.
