Live Review: Ducktails Celebrated The Release Of St. Catherine At Bowery Ballroom

Last Friday, one of the best guitarists working today, Matt Mondanile, brought his Ducktails project to Bowery Ballroom. It was a noticeably more intimate affair than Mondanile’s performances with Real Estate, which was made all the more endearing with several shout outs to relatives, specifically uncles, who likely made the trek from New Jersey to catch the show.

Ducktails’ headlining gig at Bowery came hot on the heels of the release of St. Catherine, out now via Domino. Mondanile and co. worked seamlessly through a selection of highlights off of the new LP and the more jam friendly last record, The Flower Lane. One of my personal favorites, “Letter of Intent,” was even reworked minus Jessa Farkas’ vocal, as Mondanile took over both parts.

An album release and homecoming of sorts for Ducktails that had everyone on stage and in the audience beaming and bopping their heads along. Check out shots of the action from Bowery Ballroom below, and be sure to follow Ducktails here for more.
