It was the Fourth of July, so I figure why not break the fourth wall again.
The weekend around the 4th usually finds me hopping from random BBQs to show, to show…to show. This year was no different for the most part, as there were numerous good lineups around Asbury Park. The one difference though is that for only the second time in seven years of shooting concerts, I misplaced the batteries for my camera after the first show of the weekend and did not notice until I pulled my camera out at the second show. …and to think this hasn’t happened to me on tour.
That first show though was Friday night at The Asbury Hotel; a venue I had yet to see a show at for some reason. The artists of the evening were Rachel Ana Dobken, Pam Flores, and Lowlight.
The whole evening had a pretty relaxed feel, which was more than welcome after braving the pre-holiday traffic carpooling with one fifth of Lowlight.
Rachel Ana Dobken and Pam Flores are both Asbury local performers I had not yet seen or shot, so that was fun, as catching new music always is. Lowlight, I have somewhat recently shot at Terminal 5 so it was interesting to see them switch up to a smaller set/quieter vibe.
As I was anticipating a weekend’s worth of photos I went with the relaxed vibe and just snapped a few shots of each group, featured here below.
