Anyone who has ever had the privilege of catching the face-melting garage-rock of New Brunswick, NJ trio Screaming Females live would agree that it would be hard to imagine keeping their ferocious energy down for any period of time. Sadly, it’s been a struggle health-wise in 2012 for singer-guitarist Marissa Paternoster who has been battling continuing illness seemingly from the moment Screamales’ fantastic new LP Ugly dropped earlier this year. This led to the cancellation and indefinite stalling of any tour plans in support of the band’s latest output while Paternoster focuses on getting back to full strength.
Aside from her virtuoso musical talents, Marissa is an accomplished artist and illustrator with her works appearing all throughout her band’s discography of album sleeves and gallery spotlights. She recently took to Screaming Females’ Blog with a series of sketched panels that explain her battle the past few months in to feel like her old self again. Check out her story below. Get well soon Marissa!
