Nothing warms the cockles like a night of jams and this weeks Happy Mondays served up a heaping portion of them for us. We had another great crowd as well, with the customary jam band dances forming where ever there was room to move. While the music was excellent, photographs proved to be a bit difficult as there was a different person running the lights. He did not like front lighting at all, and there was tons of the dreaded red. For the first time in a long, long while, I threw away more images than I kept. I am a bit picky to begin with, but ouch!.
Matt Wade and friends kicked us off and he was just what I needed. So, so good. Backed by an incredible, in the pocket rhythm section of Andrew Davis and Brian Gearty along with Mike from WoM on Guitar, I do believe I was in heaven.
Coming down from Boston, Juice filled up the stage with 8 strong. I do believe much of the draw was for these guys and they grooved hard throughout their set, kicking off everyone’s week in a most rambunctious fashion. Juice will be back in the area on September 30th with a stop at Mercury Lounge in NYC.
Waiting On Mongo arrived back after a little three-week break to begin their string of local shows for the rest of the month. The guys are so much fun so get out a see them before the summer ends!
