Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Seduced Prospect Park With Devendra Banhart & Nicole Atkins

It was a picturesque July day in Brooklyn Last Saturday as the beautiful, sunny weather was juxtaposed against streams of revelers lined up outside the Prospect Park Bandshell clad in black shirts that read “Bad Seed”. These fans were in need of the catharsis that the night would welcome projected by the dark, poetic, hypnotizing croon of Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds.

Opening the affair was NJ’s own Nicole Atkins who was in top form backed by her band who brought a thundering sound that the singer matched gamely with her powerful vocal. Then came the mercurial Devendra Banhart who sat solo armed with a guitar and his eccentric, brilliant lyrical play.

Darkness appropriately descended as Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds strode out on stage electrifying the gathered with their trademark fire and brimstone. New cuts like “Jubilee Street” jived wonderfully with old favorites like “Do You Love Me?” and the bad ass motherfucker “Stagger Lee”.

You just had to be there I suppose. Well, hey, you can do the next best thing and stream video from each set featuring Nick Cave, Devendra Banhart, and Nicole Atkins below.
