Andy Cook, the Minneapolis-based songwriter now signed to this site’s sister entity, Good Eye Records, brings a classic sound in examining present day challenges on his new EP Modern Man.

“You say you only live once, and you can’t miss out,” croons Cook on lead single “Swirl.” “You gotta be someone, you can’t live without. The story’s never ending, the drawing’s not done. Tell me what you’re thinking, is it really that fun?”

With that, Cook embarks on an EP-long introspection, sorting out identity and connection in modern humanity. All of this is splayed out wonderfully across a blended wash of heartland indie-rock, desert-folk and noir-Americana as evidenced by singles “Red Lights,” “Run” and the aforementioned “Swirl.”

You can stream all three singles off of Modern Man below and be sure to catch Cook in the tri-state during the release weekend on April 13th at Rose Gold in Brooklyn, NY, April 14th at a house show in New Brunswick and April 15th at the Chubby Pickle in Highlands, NJ. Modern Man is out April 13th via Good Eye Records (pre-order).
