Portland-based folk outfit Grand Lake Islands just revealed their new single “Monterey”, the latest single off the band’s sophomore effort Songs From Far, which dropped on January 20th. The heartfelt and nostalgic “Monterey”, at once melancholy and sweet, showcases the group’s talent for storytelling against a backdrop of compact melodies and classic Americana-influenced guitar riffs.
Frequently compared to Bob Dylan, lead vocalist Erik Emanuelson’s effortless vocals are sure to please fans of Damien Rice, The Tallest Man On Earth and Real Estate.
Grand Lake Islands is about to embark on a string of West Coast tour dates, so be sure to catch them live if they’re heading to your city. Songs From Far is available for purchase at the Grand Lake Island’s Bandcamp page. Stream “Monterey” below.
